AAA Aerobatic Competition Team

Team AAA NSW 2020 with Matt Hall
Team AAA, NSW State comp 2020 with Matt Hall

The Australian Aerobatic Academy promotes and supports its graduates in performing competition aerobatics for the continuous improvement of piloting skill.

While others may claim to have similar expertise, AAA’s CFI Peter Townsend started his aerobatic competition career with a first-time win at the 1998 Australian National Championships in the Basic category!

Peter and his partner Cassandra are actively involved in Australian Aerobatic Club competitions at the local, state and national levels, often acting as Team Coach, Contest Director & Secretary, Chief Judge and still manage to compete at the Unlimited level in their Extra 330SC!

Having also been coached by world champion aerobatic competition pilots such as Matt Hall, Rob Holland, Francois Le Vot and Xavier De Lapperant,  Pete & Cass are able to provide an unsurpassed level of training, support and expertise to their competition teams.

In 2020, Peter and Cassandra were awarded the FAI Paul Tissandier Diploma by the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) for their commitment to the sport of competition aerobatics.

Fielding a team to almost every Australian competition since it’s inception, with competitors in every grade from Entry to Unlimited, AAA’s results speak for themselves:
